On 19 December 2016 in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Undersecretary of State Ryszard Zarudzki handed diplomas to the authors of the awarded scientific studies for the achievements in implementing progress in agriculture, rural development and agricultural markets.
The first edition of the Central Agricultural Fair was held in the Polish Fair and Exhibition Centre Ptak Warsaw Expo between 25 and 27 November 2016.
The fair was held under the honorary patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Development.
The National Science Congress (NSC) will be held in Kraków in September 2017. During the event, the Minister of Science will present the proposals for reform in the new higher education act. The document will regulate the area of higher education from the bottom up. The Minister entrusted drawing up the proposals for reform to a team of 52 scholars appointed to the Board of the National Science Congress.
Between 8 and 9 November 2016 a training for breeders, participating in the genetic resources conservation programme of Sokólski horses, organized by the National Research Institute of Animal Production and co-financed from the European Union funds as part of the Technical Aid of the Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, was held in the Podlaski Agricultural Advisory Centre in Szepietowo. More than 70 breeders and also the employees of the Provincial and District Horse Breeders Associations, agri-environmental advisers and the employees of district branches of the Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture (ARMA) took part in the training.
On 25 October 2016 a symposium on: “The realization of ex situ biodiversity conservation programmes as part of the activity of the National Research Institute of Animal Production – the National Bank of Biological Materials” was held in Balice. All the employees of the National Research Institute of Animal Production were invited to the symposium. The aim of the event was to present the activities realized by the Department of Animal Genetic Resources Conservation of the National Research Institute of Animal Production in the National Bank of Biological Materials.
Between 3 and 4 November 2016, a conference entitled “Science to Agricultural Extension”, co-organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development was held in the National Research Institute of Animal Production in Balice. The event was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, directors and employees of the National Research Institute of Animal Production, agricultural advisors dealing with animal production – representing Agricultural Extension Centres from the whole of Poland and the representatives of Agricultural Advisory Centre.
Between 25 and 27 November 2016, the 1st Central Agricultural Fair will be held in Nadarzyn. CAF 2016 is a new fair initiative dedicated to the agricultural and food production sector. The aim of the fair is to enable direct contact between farmers and residents of rural areas with manufacturers of machinery, devices, equipment for the production, breeding, processing and storage of agricultural products, means of agricultural production, institutions offering support and logistics services and the world of agricultural sciences and consulting.
The 5th Scientific Workshop entitled “Pigs in scientific research, breeding and production” was held in the National Research Institute of Animal Production in Balice on 14 October 2016. The workshop was attended by 147 people, among others the representatives of universities and research institutes, agricultural advisory centres, insemination companies as well as teachers and students from agricultural upper-secondary schools. The Director of the National Research Institute of Animal Production Prof. Eugeniusz Herbut, Ph.D. officially opened the conference and welcomed the guests.
