3rd International Rural Tourism and Agritourism Fairs AGROTRAVEL

The National Research Institute of Animal Production participated in the 3rd International Rural Tourism and Agritourism Fair AGROTRAVEL, which took place in Kielce between 15 and 17 April 2011. The event attracted over 140 exhibitors from Poland and abroad.

The employees of the National Research Institute of Animal Production in Balice were in constant attendance in the stall of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Information on acquiring EU funds within the framework of the Rural Development Programme for 2007-2013, including the protection of animal genetic resources was presented.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Sport and Tourism and the Marshall Office of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship were among the organizers of the event. Hungary played the prestigious role of “Partner Country” as part of the Polish-Hungarian agreement on the National Rural Development Network.

This year the AGROTRAVEL fair, which was accompanied by festivities, concentrated on rural tourism, the presentation of current national and foreign experiences in this area, and the directions of agritourism in Poland and Europe. The fair event was accompanied by a conference on the “Rural tourism product – experience and challenges”, which focused on strengthening the reputation of rural tourism products, intensifying the efforts to build the quality product information system, and the need to develop this system using innovative tools of promotion. The 20-year tourism achievements of the Polish countryside were also summarized.

In addition to the regions which showcased their achievements, a rich offer for spending holidays in the countryside was presented by the Local Action Groups (LAG), private entities, the Polish Federation for Rural Tourism “Hospitable Farms”, and the Sądecki Bartnik Agritourism Farm, recipient of the Polish Promotional Emblem “Teraz Polska”. Foreign exhibitors came from Hungary, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Georgia, Spain, Moldova and Ukraine. The AGROTRAVEL fair was accompanied by numerous attractions such as performances by folk groups and a traditional products fair offering handicrafts, preserves and regional products.
