The 5th National Exhibition of Polish Red Cattle

The 5th National Exhibition of Polish Red Cattle took place between 4 and 5 June 2011 in Szczyrzyc under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Marek Sawicki and the Małopolska Province Marshal Marek Sowa.

The exhibition was organized by the Jodłownik Commune Administrator, the National Union of Polish Red Cattle Breeders in Jodłownik, and the Polish Federation of Cattle Breeders and Dairy Farmers in Warsaw. The exhibition was financed from the Milk Promotion Fund.

Forty breeders of red cattle from all over the Małopolska region brought 60 cows and in-calf heifers. The animals were presented in individual groups, which were similar in quality so it was not easy to choose the most beautiful ones.

The cow Bika PL005123574377, born on 26 December 2006 at the farm of Jan Solarczyk from Wróblówka, was chosen as the super champion of the exhibition.

During the Young Breeders Show, which was organized for the first time, children showed their beloved heifer calves around. The exhibition generated a lot of interest and all the children received prizes.

Anna Majewska and Ewa Sosin-Bzducha represented the National Research Institute of Animal Production as coordinators of the native breed conservation programme. The Director of the National Research Institute of Animal Production, Prof. Jędrzej Krupiński Ph.D. funded a cup for the breeder of the best animal in the category of “Second and third lactation cows from the genetic resources conservation programme – Champion”.
