15th Farewell to Holidays in Rudawka Rymanowska 2015

Between 28 and 30 August 2015, the 15th Farewell to Holidays was held in Rudawka Rymanowska. Traditionally, the outdoor event was accompanied by: the National Exhibition of Simmental Cattle and the Regional Championship of Hucul Horse whereas the patronage over them was assumed by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Marshal of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, and the Podkarpackie Voivode.

This year, the National Research Institute of Animal Production made its presence felt at “the Farewell to Holidays 2015” by organizing two events:

  • pilot workshops as part of the FARMLAND project
  • conference disseminating and summarizing the RUBIGAS project.

The pilot session, which was held as part of the FARMLAND project, took place on 28 August. It began with an introductory presentation by Eng. Maciej Dymacz, M.Sc., who presented the guidelines, the course of implementation and the results of the FARMLAND project. The way of functioning of electronic platform, its properties and functions were presented.

After a short break, workshops began during which the participants which had access to computers could become acquainted in a practical and detailed way with the courses accessible on the electronic platform of the project.

In total, more than 70 people took part in the meeting. 32 participants attended the practical part of the workshops of the pilot session.

On 29 August 2015, a conference called “RUBIGAS - Agrobiogas as an Alternative Source of Energy in Rural Areas” was held. The conference aimed at summarizing and disseminating the activities undertaken during the realization of the project.

The Director of the National Research Institute of Animal Production, Prof. Eugeniusz Herbut, Ph.D. opened the conference and welcomed the guests.

The guests were represented first and foremost by the project target group, namely farmers and breeders. Among special guests there were the representatives of the Marshal Office of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, the Agricultural Market Agency, the Provincial Veterinary Inspectorate in Katowice, the Provincial Veterinary Inspectorate in Krosno, and the European Food Safety Authority. Due to the guests from Ukraine from the Lviv National University of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnologies, the conference had international character.

The first presentation was delivered by Eng. Maciej Dymacz, M.Sc. – a specialist for substantive issues of the project. He presented mainly the guidelines and aims of the project and he briefly characterized foreign partners.

The next lecture entitled: “The Significance of Laboratory Research during Startup and Operation of Agricultural Biogas Plant” was delivered by Eng. Artur Olesienkiewicz, Ph.D.

Subsequently, Jerzy Kędzior took the floor and discussed: “The Determinants of the Realization of Photovoltaic Investments in the Context of Prosumer Electric Power Engineering”.

After the theoretical part, the conference participants could take part in a study visit and see the sights of newly created biogas plant of the Institute’s Experimental Station in Odrzechowa. Direct contact with the people working on the startup and operation of the system of producing agricultural biogas was an excellent occasion to become acquainted with the details of device functioning, to ask questions and to become acquainted with both the advantages and disadvantages of the solutions applied in agricultural biogas plants.

The conference was attended by more than 80 people, the biogas plant was visited by 20 guests.

During the “Farewell to Holidays” the Foundation of the National Research Institute of Animal Production Patronus Animalium made its presence felt by funding prizes in the competition for the youngest breeders. Deputy Director for Infrastructure Matters of the National Research Institute of Animal Production, Eng. Józef Śliwa, M.Sc. and the Vice-President of the Foundation Piotr M. Mikosz, M.Sc. handed presents to children.

During two days of the exhibition, on the stall made available by the National Research Institute of Animal Production, the visitors could receive dissemination materials and periodical publications presenting the results of research work.
