The 7th Małopolska Festival of Greenleg Partridge Hens – Proszowice 2017

The 7th Małopolska Festival of Polish Greenleg Partridge Hens was held in Proszowice on 17 September 2017. The event was organized by the Proszowice Association of Pedigree Pigeons and Small Livestock. The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Krzysztof Jurgiel, Vice-Voivode of Małopolska Józef Gawron, Vice-Marshal of the Małopolskie Voivodeship Wojciech Kozak and also the Director of the National Research Institute of Animal Production, Prof. Eng. Maciej Pompa-Roborzyński, Ph.D. assumed patronage over the festival.

As last year, Holy Mass was said on the exhibition square and subsequently Vice-Marshal of the Małopolskie Voivodeship Wojciech Kozak officially opened the exhibition. When visiting the exhibition, the guests could see various breeds of pigeons, hens, ducks, geese and rabbits. The National Research Institute of Animal Production, as a partner of the Association presented specimens of native animal breeds: Yellowleg Partridge, Rhode Island Red, Rhode Island White hens and Popielno White rabbits. The presentations of local Rural Housewives’ Associations and stage performances completed the animal exhibition.

In conclusion to the exhibition, cups and certificates of appreciation for the best breeders were handed. The National Research Institute of Animal Production honoured breeding successes of Krzysztof Wrona, Władysław Siwek and Zbigniew Chodór. The National Research Institute of Animal Production received from Grzegorz Pióro, the Starosta of the Proszowice District, a cup, which was a reward for the contribution to biodiversity conservation of farm animals. Eng. Jolanta Calik, Ph.D. handed and received the cups on behalf of the Institute.

The Institute’s stall on which one could receive the most recent publications on native breeds and research conducted in the Institute generated a lot of popularity.
