The 1st Congress of Dairy Cattle Breeders

The 1st Congress of Dairy Cattle Breeders under the motto “Innovative Breeder” took place at the PGE National Stadium on 7 November 2017. It was attended by the invited experts, scientists and practitioners, who focused on modern and innovative solutions in the field of milk production.

In the first part of the congress, the President of the Board of the Dairy Industry Innovation Institute Ltd. Mrągowo, Prof. Andrzej Babuchowski, Ph.D shared with the assembled in his speech the potential directions of the changes of the European Union legislation in relation to milk production, whereas Ewa Kołoszycz, Ph.D.  from the Faculty Enterprise Management of the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin discussed the effective methods of farm management. Piotr Wójcik, Ph.D., Prof. of NRIAP from the National Research Institute of Animal Production in Balice was a moderator of a discussion panel. In his speech he indicated how important modern management of cattle breeding is. In the next speech, Eng. Monika Skarwecka, Ph.D. from the National Research Institute of Animal Production encouraged the guests to benefit from the genomic evaluation in breeding work. Krzysztof Słoniewski, Ph.D. from the Polish Federation of Cattle Breeders and Dairy Farmers discussed how and what information conveyed through the evaluation of cow performance is worth to be used in current work on the farm. “Organic milk production as a chance for an increase of farm profitability through the change of the approach to feed production and use of cows” was the subject of the speech of Prof. Tomasz Sakowski, Ph.D., the Institute of Genetics and Animal Breeding of the Polish Academy of Sciences Jastrzębiec.

Moreover, the guests heard the lectures of the undermentioned specialists and academics:
