"Good Polish Goose Meat – Breeding and Production Background"

“Good Polish Goose Meat – Breeding and Production Background”, Kołuda Wielka, 11 March 2011

The conference entitled “Good Polish Goose Meat – Breeding and Production Background” took place on 11 March 2011 in the Conference Centre of the National Research Institute of Animal Production Experimental Station in Kołuda Wielka. It was organized by the Kujawsko-Pomorski Agricultural Advisory Centre in Minikowo and the National Research Institute of Animal Production Experimental Station in Kołuda Wielka.

Among the participants of the conference were producers of oat-fed geese, owners of breeder flocks from the regions of Pomerania, Kuyavia, Wielkopolska and western Mazovia, teachers from agricultural schools, representatives of Agricultural Advisory Centres, and companies cooperating with producers of geese. They were mostly farmers who cooperate directly with the Institute and the Experimental Station in Kołuda Wielka.

The date of the conference was set to coincide with the optimal production period when goslings begin to hatch and procurement agreements for the purchase of fattened geese are concluded. For this reason, the otherwise lively discussion mainly concerned the economic determinants of goose husbandry that await farmers in 2011, taking into consideration the high prices of feed, energy and fuel.
