Exhibition of Pigeons and Small Livestock Kielce 2014

Between 25 and 26 January 2014, the National Exhibition of Pedigree Pigeons and Small Livestock was held in the Kielce SA Fair area.

The Polish Association of Pedigree Pigeons and Small Livestock Breeders was an organizer of the exhibition.

The exhibition gathered over 450 pigeons breeders from the whole of Poland from 40 branches of the Polish Association of Pedigree Pigeons and Small Livestock and also from Europe (Lithuania, Czech Republic) and the USA. Nearly 5000 different breeds of pigeons  were shown. 350 specimens of ornamental poultry and more than 200 rabbits were an additional attraction.

Meeting opening RUBIGAS project

On 9 and 10 January 2014, a meeting opening the RUBIGAS project was held, realized as part of the Leonardo da Vinci programme by the Department of Research Commercialization and Practice Cooperation.

The project is devoted to the promotion of renewable energy sources with particular attention to biogas plants.

The National Research Institute of Animal Production is the leader of project consortium and foreign partners are the University of Agriculture in Nitra (Slovakia), the University of Agriculture in Stara Zagora (Bulgaria), CPIP training centre from Timisoara (Romania), and the Eurosuccess Ltd. managing-consulting company from Nicosia (Cyprus).

New Year’s Meeting of the Management and Retired Employees of the National Research Institute of Animal Production

On Thursday, 16 January of this year, an official New Year’s meeting of the Directors and retired employees of the National Research Institute of Animal Production was held in the Institute’s Palace. At the invitation of the Director – Professor Eugeniusz Herbut, Ph.D., almost 80 eminent guests honoured us with their presence. In solemn and joyful mood, the guests shared Christmas wafer and extended wishes to one another. The meeting took place in a very nice and cordial atmosphere. Thanking for the invitation, the Esteemed Guests expressed their hope for the next meeting.

Therefore, we are planning a similar celebration also next year.

 

Founding the “Polish Equine Genetics and Reproduction” Centre

On 14 January 2014, upon application of the Laboratory of Genomics of the National Research Institute of Animal Production, an agreement to set up a scientific-industrial centre was concluded with the University of Agriculture in Krakow, the Horse Stud in Janów Podlaski, the Horse Stud in Michałów, the Malopolska Plant Breeding HBP Ltd., and the Stallion Herd Department in Białka.

The emerging “Polish Equine Genetics and Reproduction” centre aims at creating conditions for the use of molecular genetics achievements in monitoring genetic variants, associated with traits significant for horse breeding in Poland. Its tasks will involve: undertaking joint research projects concerning widely understood horse genetics and genomics, allowing for mutual exchange of research achievements and breeding material.

 

The National Research Institute of Animal Production a partner in a new project

Between 12 and 13 December 2013 in Rome the project “Farm Activities for Rural Model Learning And Nature Didactics – FARMLAND” was started.

The main aim of the project is to promote the idea of educational farm, the associated good practices and the solutions which increase the attractiveness of agritourism offer.

INNOVATION 2013 EUROSYMBOL for the National Research Institute of Animal Production

The National Research Institute of Animal Production has become a Laureate of the programme Symbol 2013, obtaining the title of Innovation 2013 EUROSymbol. On 25 November 2013, during the official Gala in the Silesian Theatre in Katowice, Asst. Prof. Robert Eckert, PhD – Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs received the prize on behalf of the Institute. The distinction was granted for the realization of the project: “Creating ICT platform of knowledge exchange on the quality and safety of animal production”, co-financed by the European Union from the resources of the European Regional Development Fund as part of the Operational Programme “Innovative Economy”.

Professorial nomination for Barbara Niwińska, PhD, DSc

On 22 November 2013, the President of the Republic of Poland, Bronisław Komorowski presented the act of granting the title of Professor of Agricultural Sciences to Barbara Niwińska, PhD, DSc, the employee of the Department of Animal Nutrition and Feed Science of the National Research Institute of Animal Production.
